The Joy of Serving

Hands serving and receiving soup

What a great outreach we had on Sabbath, September 3. A group of 43 from our church, including a large number of youth and many families, left the church and headed for the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen in Dallas. We helped prepare hundreds of sack lunches for people to take with them and served over 200 meals in the few short hours we were there. Once we were done serving we met as a group to discuss the outreach and shared what we enjoyed about being there. One of the biggest things our group noticed was how grateful the people we served were. But in addition, the great blessing that we received from being involved with service. We heard many thank you’s and had good discussions while we were there.

The next time we will be going to the Salvation Army will be the second Saturday of October. Plan to join us and experience the Joy of Service.
