“Pressure to Conform” Theme Introduced Sabbath, August 25

It’s your first day in a new school. You are wondering if you will fit in, if people will accept you or make fun of you or just ignore you. You are watching the other students for little clues of what it is okay to do and what is not acceptable. You especially watch the kids that seem to be cool, have friends, be happy. You don’t like to feel the pressure, but it is there anyway. How will you deal with it?

Whether it is a new school, a new job or a new neighborhood we have all felt pressure to conform, at any age in life. But as believers we learn to deal with peer pressure in an entirely different way. And this is an important part of our spiritual training for the last days.

This Sabbath, August 25 (9am & 11:30am) at Richardson Seventh-day Adventist Church we begin a month-long focus on how to deal with Pressure to Conform. A Bible Reading Bookmark and Great Controversy Prayer Meeting series are available to go along with the theme.

  • August 25   “On the Run for Doing Right”   1 Kings 18
  • September 1   “True vs. False Revival”   2 Corinthians 7
  • August 11   Pastor Salomon Espinoza
  • August 18   Special Guest- Jim Ayer, Adventist World Radio

“Whoever does not fall down and worship shall be cast immediately into the midst of a burning fiery furnace… our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.” Daniel 3:6, 17-18.
