Here are the updated (as of 5/6/13) details about our Mission Trip to Ireland this summer.
PURPOSE OF THE TRIP
1 in 9,000 people in Ireland are SDA. This means that there are many in the country that still have not heard the gospel of Jesus or learned some of the important truths revealed in the Bible. We are going to reach out to and share with those who live in this area of great spiritual need.
Look for a flight that leaves on Thursday, July 4 and that is bound for DUB (Dublin Airport). There are several US carriers as well as Aer Lingus, an Irish Airline. Most flights have a connection and arrive in Dublin, Ireland on Friday, July 5. You will meet the rest of the team at the airport. From there we will travel about an hour southwest to the Ballinacrow, which is in County Wicklow.
The meetings will start on Friday or Saturday evening and go through the following Saturday evening. There are many ways to be involved such as greeting, special music, song service, health talks, preaching, prayer, and children’s meetings.
During the day, several outreach opportunities are being considered such as a Health Expo, Vacation Bible School, distributing literature house to house and in public places, and conducting door to door health and spiritual surveys.
We will try to take a day or an afternoon to drive around Ireland and see some of the natural beauty and some of the sites that have historical significance to Christians such as where Patrick lived and set up training centers.
Look for a return flight on Sunday, July 14 or if you wish to extend your stay and enjoy some more of Europe on your own, that is also an option. The trip will begin and end at the Dublin Airport.
- Food $225 ($25/day for 9 days)

Below you will see a sample letter that can be given or mailed to family and friends. The suggested number of letters to send out is 50 or more. Checks should be made out to Richardson Seventh-day Adventist Church, but sent to you first, so that you know how much money has come in. Then you turn the money into the church for processing so that the donations can be tax-deducible. If you are unable to go on the mission trip for some reason, the money will stay in the church treasury and be used for some other aspect of the mission trip.
Sample Support Letter
Dear [PERSON’s NAME]
Thanks for taking a few minutes to read this letter.
I have been invited to go with a mission team to Ballinacrow, Ireland from July 5-13, 2013 to assist with some public Bible meetings in this spiritually needy part of the world. This will be an incredible opportunity to see first-hand the needs of this country and to bring hope to many people by sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with them.
During our time there, our team will be holding evening Bible meetings and providing programs for the children to learn more about Jesus. During the daytime we will visit people in the community, providing many kinds of outreach, praying for the sick, and sharing Bible truths door to door and in public places. I’ll be assisting in all areas but I’m especially looking forward to helping with [The area you will help with most].
To go I need to raise about [$400 plus airfare]. Of course I’ll be covering some of that cost myself, but I’ve also been encouraged to invite others to help sponsor this project. Some might be able to help with $25, $50 or $100 dollars, and some might be able to help with even more. But if you can’t help at this time we believe your prayers for us are worth more than money could ever buy. Prayers are what will prepare our hearts and the hearts of the people we meet to receive Jesus.
If you can help financially, please send a check, made out to “Richardson Seventh-day Adventist Church” to me at the following address: [Your Address]. Please write “Ireland Mission Trip” on the memo line at the bottom. Do not write my name on the check. Your donation is tax-deductible. All donations above what I need to go on the trip will be used to help someone else be able to go or for other aspects of the mission trip.
When I return I’ll be happy to tell you about the experiences our group has had and to share some of the pictures I’ve taken.
Thank you and may God bless all of us as we work for Him wherever we are.
P.S. If possible please send any check by June 1, 2013.
Please send an email to Amy at email@example.com with the following information:
Name, age, phone number, email, and the specific areas that you would like to have a part in during the evening evangelistic meetings.
Send a $100 deposit to Richardson Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1201 W Belt Line Rd, Richardson, TX 75080 to hold your place. Please include a separate note in the envelope that states that the money is for the Ireland Mission Trip and your name so that the treasurer knows that that you are the missionary applying.
