Peter says in 1Peter 4:10, “As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” Paul wrote in 1Cor. 4.1-2, “Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.”
Ellen White addresses influence on page 115 of Counsels on Stewardship. She says, Influence is a talent, and it is a power for good when the sacred fire of God’s kindling is brought into our service. The influence of a holy life is felt at home and abroad. The practical benevolence, the self-denial and self-sacrifice, which mark the life of a man, have an influence for good upon those which whom he associates.”
We influence others in one of two ways – positively or negatively. How are we perceived by others? Do we portray a picture of Christ? We may be the only link to Christ for someone who crosses our path. I pray that we all may be good stewards as we influence others and bring a glimpse of God into their lives.
