This Sabbath at Richardson (June 7)- “Love the Lord” Part 2

What does it mean to love someone with all your heart?

A young lady opened the note from her new boyfriend and read “For you I would climb the highest mountain, swim the deepest ocean, walk the hottest desert and swim the widest river. I’ll come by and take you out to dinner Monday evening if I feel like it.”

We sense that something is wrong with this relationship! There are heart-warming promises but not committed decisions.

When Jesus said “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your strength” (Matthew 22:37, quoting Deuteronomy 6:5) He was not calling for a half-hearted, divided loyalty. He was calling us to give all so we can receive much more than we started with!

Join us this Sabbath at Richardson (9am & 11:30am) as we look at how to grow in our love for God, who loves us so much. This continues our two month series “His Commandments = Your Lifestyle,” a study of the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:37-40), to love the Lord with all our heart and to love our neighbor as ourself. Feel free to bring a friend.

Here are more tools for our journey of discovering the love God has for us that is the source of all love we have for Him and others–

The Great Commandment

“Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”   Matthew 22:37-40
