Bible Bowl – Children’s Sabbath School Division

photoThe Bible Bowl was an amazing experience for both the kids who participated, and their parents. Though our team didn’t win, the kids learned something that no person in this world can steal from them, the word of God and its teachings. We were exceedingly blessed to be a part of the competition and we thank the church for its support. Continue reading

“What an Opportunity!” by Ray Ljubisic

shutterstock_53794117“Knock and the door will be open”.

Mark 16:15 (NIV)

15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation”.

The Gospel, the Everlasting Gospel, the good news of God’s everlasting free gift to all mankind; His son, Jesus Christ and Him crucified. How do we share this good news? How do we gain access to those who have yet to hear it in its beautiful fullness? I have been on many evangelistic committees and could not have dreamed of an opportunity such as this!

Every man needs a better man in his life and for me it is Earl Hack. Rarely does a Sabbath go by that our families don’t gather and share and rejoice over Jesus and His amazing love for us. It was on one of these Sabbath gatherings that Earl asked if I would be willing to share the book of Romans with his daughter Carol’s Sunday School class at the Richardson United Methodist Church. The class is a fairly good size class ranging between 70-100 people and consisting of SMU Theologians. Carol and her husband attend there and she was in charge of finding someone to present for a particular period of time during the year. Continue reading

This Sabbath at Richardson (October 25) – The Lamb & His Bride (Love Stories of the Bible)

Have you ever been to a wedding where the bride was late? This was so common in one part of Brazil that the cathedral made plans to fine the bride $300 if she was late!

The biggest wedding in the history of the universe will take place soon, but the bride is already late! This Sabbath we will look at the wedding between the Lamb (Jesus) and His bride (His people) in the Book of Revelation. Why is the bride late and what can she do to not delay the wedding any longer?

Join us this Sabbath at Richardson (9am & 11:30am) as we look at the love story of Jesus and His people, and learn lessons that will help us see Jesus return soon. Feel free to invite friends. Here are more tools to help us distinguish between the joy of true love and pain of unhealthy lust.

This Sabbath at Richardson (October 4) – Solomon & His 1st Wife (Love Stories of the Bible)

By the end of his life King Solomon had 700 wives and 300 other lovers (1 Kings 11:1-4). But he didn’t start out so badly. In fact he started very well. There is evidence to show that for his first 20 years of marriage he was faithful to his 1st wife, a daughter of Pharaoh, king of Egypt. What lessons can we learn from their love story, found in the Bible’s Song of Solomon, that will strengthen our relationship with our friends, our spouse and our God?

During the months of September and October 2014 we are studying some of the love stories of the Bible and learning lessons for our own relationships. Join us this Sabbath at Richardson (9am & 11:30am) as we look at the love story of Solomon & his 1st wife, and learn lessons from someone who started right (but finished badly). We will also be experiencing the communion service together. Feel free to invite friends. Here are more tools to help us distinguish between the joy of true love and pain of unhealthy lust.
